Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day with Music, Food, and Community in Nevada City

Nevada City, CA — October 13, 2025 — 12PM-6PM. The community is invited to gather at Cedar Circle located at 400 Providence Mine Rd. Nevada City Ca 95959 for a special celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day. The event will feature live music, food vendors, and a vibrant lineup of performers honoring culture, resilience, and community.
Headlining the stage will be Bay Area hip-hop legend Deuce Eclipse, joined by a powerful roster of artists including Johnny Moses, Honey of the Heart, Lighthawk, Anno Nakai, Roki Kilroy, Almaconvoz, Koa and Hui O Na Kai, and Seydou Dante. With music ranging from traditional sounds to contemporary rhythms, the event offers something for everyone.
This is a day for the entire community to come together — to celebrate, to learn, and to honor the voices and traditions of Indigenous peoples.
The celebration is all ages and open to everyone. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the performances comfortably. Please note: no drugs or alcohol will be permitted on-site.

Further Ado emerged from the strange days of 2020, when Michael and Lauren found themselves in a small community called Rosebud in Nevada City.

When nervous systems needed gentle heartfelt music for calming and comfort, Further Ado was the perfect medicine.

Further Ado can re-do your favorite songs, familiar classics and some you’ve never heard before, reimagined with smooth harmonies and delicate guitar work to melt your heart.

CATNIP

Catnip has been a dance performer and costume artist for two + decades. Heavily influenced by ten years of Burning Man & endless west coast festivals- she intends to stay weird and humble while curating diverse soundscapes.  As a DJ she stays loyal to deep resonant bass that keeps the rhythm alive in a multi-faceted world-beat climbing tree. Fusing electronica + organica, thug + tribal, bootyfull + beautiful, beats + bass, the key is the vibe!

 Elevating headspace with bits of Medicine Bass, Afro Beat, World House, Tribal Trap, throw back Hip Hop, sprinkled with D&B, Beautiful Breaks and Global Shamanic Sounds, she won't be boxed into any genre except dopeness.

Blessed to have opened for Imagika Om, Random Rab, David Starfire & Beat Kitty on the island of Hawai’i where she now lives, she's also played on Abraxas at Burning Man and on the Compass Stage at Lightning in a Bottle festival. When spotted in the wild, Catnip meows back!

GINA ZAPPIA

Gina Zappia is a trained dancer, certified Vinyasa instructor since 2003, and a licensed Massage Therapist since 2005. She holds certificates in several modalities, and is currently studying to became a breathwork facilitator. Her great loves in life are exploring the world, teaching, healing, laughing with friends, and creating art. Gina tours globally and presents unique offerings that should not be missed!

STEPHANIE BREESE

Stephanie is a sound healing practitioner, energy worker, herbal medicine maker, daughter of the Earth and student of the universe. Under her platform RISING GAIA, she holds a sacred space to relax and receive by creating experiences using organic frequencies that entrain the energetic field into harmony, supporting cellular healing, emotional release and expansion in consciousness. She is also curator of the Nevada County Healers Directory, a listing of holistic healing practitioners within the community.

Funded by a $2.7 million dollar grant from the California Department of Cannabis Control, the project incorporates public education and Community-Based Participatory Research to implement the standard methods and systems used across agriculture to define, document, and legally protect as intellectual property the individual and collective genetic resources of legacy cannabis breeders and legacy cannabis cultivation communities.

Hosted by Cal Poly Humboldt, LeafWorks, the Oral History Center at the Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley, Origins Council and United CORE Alliance, this event will bring together experts, stakeholders, and academics for an afternoon of insightful presentations and discussions about the project’s goals and methodologies.

Event Highlights:

Event will feature a panel discussion with the project's research team, followed by Q&A with attendees. After the panel discussion, researchers and project personnel will facilitate hand-on demonstrations on herbarium science and breakout discussions covering different aspects of this multidisciplinary Community-Based Participatory Research project. Calling all Forestry Entrepreneurs!

Join Sierra Business Council and Sierra Commons in beautiful Nevada City, California for a tuition-free two-day bootcamp designed to create sustainable forest-based jobs and wood products businesses.

With increasing pressure on our forests from climate change and wildfires, the demand for forest-based businesses is growing every year in rural communities throughout the Sierra Nevada.

Have you ever dreamed of being a business owner? Or maybe you have a business and want to take it to the next level. This course is for you!

This two-day course is geared toward businesses in forest thinning and management, defensible space, prescribed fire application, small mass timber product manufacturing, small diameter timber utilization, biofuel, bioenergy, home hardening, plant restoration, other non-timer-related businesses, and forestry logistics.

About the Bootcamp

Robert Trent, founder of Sierra Commons, and Ruby Beauchamp, a seasoned climber and cone collector, will lead the course. Throughout the weekend, guest presenters will provide valuable information and resources.

Students will learn the basic foundations of good business, from finance, pricing, and cash flow to research, marketing, and sales and the complex world of government contracts and permits. With a weekly accountability group and one-to-one advising, students will expand their knowledge and gain access to resources.

Each participant is eligible for personalized technical assistance at no cost through the SBDC program.

The curriculum is designed to provide:

• Technical assistance to launch small businesses

• Entrepreneurial development focused on a broad range of forest and wood-based businesses

• Training and guidance for transforming businesses

• Opportunities to showcase emerging business opportunities

• Guidance on the benefits of wildfire reduction and economic development; at the nexus of wood product development and outdoor recreation in rural forested communities

Funding for this program was provided by a Good Jobs Challenge EDA-funded grant through the Foundation for California Community Colleges to conduct forestry and fire-mitigation training programs in the Sierra Nevada region of northeastern California.
